I saw the Crayola Glow Station at my Godchilds house last week and was amazed. This 5 year old girl was having the time of her life creating figures, and was nevered bored.
I would have LOVED this gift when I was young.
This is a wonderfull toy for a child to create the artist inside of them, without the mess of Crayons.

My kids love to draw and play in the dark, and with this they can do both at the same time, which is otherwise impossible. Good job, crayola!!

Although this product is recommended for 6 yrs old and older, I bought for my 3 year old. She loves playing with the light/glow mat (actually, we both do!). I hung the glow station in her bedroom and am certainly setting myself up to her not going to sleep when it is her bedtime… There is only 1 negative that I can say about the product. It comes with a black dry-erase marker that the instructions clearly state not to draw on the draw mat. The black marker is to be used for making your own stencils. However, it is too much of a temptation to even have the marker with the glow station and risk ruining the glow mat. I took the dry-erase marker away. My daughter won’t even know it is missing…. Overall, this is a fun product for the young (i.e. 3 year old) and the nearly old (me) – worth hours of play time.

My 7-year-old got this for Christmas, and that night, I hung it on the wall opposite her bed. After I tucked her in and turned out the light, I wrote “Good Night!” in large script and dotted a bunch of stars around it. She loved it and now insists that I do it every night! So for starting a new bedtime “tradition” that makes her eager to get in bed and turn out the light, I give this toy 5 stars. I agree with the others who say that it’s best you take the marker away (I use it on our dry erase memo board). Also, the board is folded up in the box and doesn’t lay completely flat. It needs to be hung on a wall (otherwise the little stencils fall out) and needs total darkness to work.

A friend bought this for my 4.5 year old for Christmas. Both he and my 2.5 year old love it! We haven’t mounted it on the wall yet but with it laying flat on the floor, even the 2-year old can lay out the stencils to make scenes. Mostly he likes tracing his hand and playing with the star tip though. The 4-year old likes using the transparencies and stencils and making really complicated pictures. We haven’t had the problem that some reviewers mention about the designs fading too fast. Occasionally they get bored waiting for the images to fade but for the most part, the timing is just about right. The board is pretty big too so when they draw something in one area, there’s still room to move on to another area while that picture fades. It does need to be pretty dark for this to work best. I have “blackout curtains” in my boys’ room but you might consider mounting this in a closet, bathroom, or dark hallway for best results. My 4-year old also thinks it’s cool to crawl under the bed with it and it’s the first thing they grab when we build a blanket fort in the living room. My friend got it at Walmart much cheaper than it’s listed here but overall we’re thrilled with it!

If you are trying to break your school-ager from nightlight dependency, then this is the one. My 2nd grade son who wouldn’t let me turn the lights off at bed time or close the door to his room, now insists that I do both so that he can see his good night message from Mom. He doesn’t really spend a lot of time with it but its great as a “night light” comfort item. The glow lasts a while after the lights are turn off, okay I don’t know exactly how long but its long enough for him to get to sleep. There is enough room for a short message from Mom for him to look at as he falls asleep. He does enjoy drawing pictures of space scenes when he does think to play with it, but even he sees this as a night light substitute.

My daughter received this as a gift and once she figured out how it worked at night, loves drawing with it. I like it because I don’t have to worry about markers or crayons or coloring books to be cleaned up right at bedtime. She draws for a little while before bed and it seems to calm her down and get her ready to settle. Very nice toy.

This is a fantastic toy. It definitely works the best in the dark. It’s great to use with the shapes they give you but also fun to put toys or other things on top of it. You can put your hand or foot on top of it and shine the light above your hand and it will leave your handprint on the board. It doesn’t fade off quickly, if you are in the dark. I think this toy can be educational because your child can think of different ways to leave images on the board. I enjoy playing with this too. It can get wrinkled easily and the diamond thing that makes stars left a few dents on our board. You can’t push down with that hard. My girls and I love this toy. I highly recommend it.

Our four year old grandsons were wildly enthusiastic about the Glow Station. They could hardly wait to install the batteries inside the drawing wand and start creating. They went into a dark room, and after only a few minutes of experimentation, they started showing off their artwork to anyone who would look.
There’s no erasing involved to draw again. The images fade on their own over a short period of time. Then the happy artist can start creating again.
It was very gratifying to see how excited they were to take their Glow Stations home and use them in their own rooms.
