My daughter got this as a birthday present a few weeks ago and simply loves it. We got her the extra ABC/123 templates that go with it so she can work on her letters and writting her name since she just started kindergarten. The only thing I found wrong with it was the extra templates are NOT easy to find nor do they last long
they get tore up way too easy and markers just dry up quickly too.

I use the Doodle Pro-Glow in the school setting, predominently with my elementary and intermediate school-aged children, and they love it! I love using it because I know they are developing important perceptual motor skills, while they think they are just having fun. As an occupational therapist, I am trained to adapt a task to fit the child, and this may be why some of the other reviewers had difficulty using it. Some of the tracing designs are more difficult. I purchased extra stencil packets and use the less complex designs with my younger children. My students who have poor drawing skills love to be able to recognizably trace a design. We make a game out of it and have other students or teachers attempt to guess their drawing after they have finished. The kids love making the screen glow and using the optional blinking “neon sign” option. I have used this drawing board successfully with children with Autism, and those with lower-level skills, but the trick is to work with them, giving them verbal and visual cues for success. With these children, this toy would not be the best choice for independent play. I also have some of the children practice their number and letter writing, as well as their shape drawing skills without using the stencils. Clean up has not been a problem when using wet paper towels followed by dry paper towels. I typically perform the clean up task, and I have not experienced any staining of the screen when the screen is fully cleaned prior to putting it away. This toy has been a big hit with my kids and I intend to continue using it as part of my perceptual fine motor therapy.

We got ours on sale at Target last year, I think like $15. Worth every penny! The kids LOVE it!!! I’m talking all ages, 7, 9, 12 & 14. Pretty rare, I think, to find a common favorite across those age ranges. When friends come over, it’s the first thing they tend to grab, that is after they understand what it is (the thing lights up, and when you draw on it, it glows like neon lights- very cool).
The kids take it along for long night time car drives. As cool as it is in the daytime, this thing really shows it’s stuff in the dark.
Other reviewers are right, the sponge that comes with it is worthless – toss that in the trash ASAP. But two paper towels, one damp, one dry, are more than adequate to clean it up with no trouble at all. The ink seems to be watersoluble – it’s gotten on some clothes and even furniture and comes right off with a little water.

WHEN GRANDMA BOUGHT THIS FOR MY 3YR OLD SON, I DIDN’T THINK IT WAS GOING TO BE A BIG HIT BECAUSE MY SON DOESN’T LIKE TO COLOR OR WRITE. HOWEVER HE HAS BEEN A TRACING FOOL SINCE HE GOT IT! WE’VE HAD IT FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS NOW, AND IT HASN’T BROKEN. HE LOVES THE SPONGE AND HE GETS A KLEENEX(BECAUSE ITS SOFT) AND CLEANS THE SCREEN ALL BY HIMSELF. (HE’S PROUD OF THAT)I ALSO NOTICE HIS WRITING IN PRESCHOOL HAS IMPROVED. I WOULD DEFINATELY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANY CHILD. IN FACT THE REASON WHY I WAS ON AMAZON WAS TO LOOK FOR THE ACCESSORIES. THEY HAVE MORE MARKERS AND TRACING TEMPLATES AVAILABLE THAT I’M TRYING TO FIND.

First of all, YES the markers stain, so keep that in mind when having your children sit down to play with this. The GOOD news is that the stains DO come out. For those of you having problems try adding whatever clothing is stained to a bucket of HOT water… Pour 1/4th -1/2 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide into the bucket and let sit for 30-45 minutes. The stains DO come out.. This product is EXCELLENT for pre-schoolers who have an interest in drawing. I LOVE the trace mechanism on this and quite frankly it’s one of the best “Trace” teaching tools i’ve seen. The children LOVE the “flourescent” look and it’s been hard to get this away from them! You can also add pictures for them to draw by making your own….. Just use a white crayon or marker to highlight the picture and voila you have more pictures…

I’ve read several reviews on this item and quite honestly, I don’t understand why so many people have posted negative reviews. This is a wonderful toy that allows children to be creative. My 5-year-old son has thoroughly enjoyed this product. I gave him a wet rag to use to clean it which does work better than the sponge that comes with the toy. I am not big on the stencils since they restrict creativity but he has used them to trace designs onto the Doodle Pro board which does encourage fine motor development.
Overall, a great toy to take in the car or to a resturant or simply to use to make brilliant drawings at home.

It helps toddlers practice drawing and writing letters so improves fine motor skills. The best part is that the pictures are interesting enough to keep even 6 to 8-year-olds engaged. The drawbacks are that the pictures are not durable. So to make them last, laminate them. Also, if they made the markers in more different colors and the pad itself a little more compact it would be perfect! Overall, very satisfactory.

I think the Manufacturer Recommended Age for this toy is incorrect. Instead of 36 month to 6 years, it should be 5+ years. My 5-year-old boy really love to draw using this toy. Throw away the included sponge and buy a pack of cheap baby wipe instead. Clean up is easy using the baby wipes. My son also has the Crayola Color Explosion Glow Board. It is a similar product. The recommended ago for Crayola Color Explosion Glow Board is 6+ years. Fisher Price should really market this product for older kids. The glowing effedt is really cool. The included tracing mats are really helpful. The Fisher Price makers are higher quality than the Crayola makers and last longer.

I have 2 boys (8 & 11). This is a great tool for practicing their weekly spelling words. They can write as big as they want and even do them in the dark. I just use a damp washrag to wipe the words off. The little sponge was lost almost immediately; however, we have managed to keep the 3 pens for 1 1/2 years now. This is a record since my boys have a tendency to lose everything. The pens fit on the back or into the drawer inside the unit. As far as tracing and drawing, my boys don’t do either. But as a teaching aid this product is invaluable.

LOVE IT…Great Toy…had 8 kids (ages 26 mos to 7yrs) playing with it on Christmas day…Was the most played with toy…easy to clean w/ damp cloth or baby wipe…they loved it…I even played w/ it for a little while myself…Made just like a mini restaurant light board…scratches are barely noticeable and don’t affect the use or quality of the toy…light shuts off automatically when left on… I don’t use the sponge and the markers have been working great, even after being abused by 8 little kids….haven’t used the tracing pages yet, not really needed.
